The drone business that helps communities in North West Wales

An Anglesey woman has transformed her life while setting up a drone business to help residents on the island and beyond.  Cara Huey received benefits for "quite a bit" and toyed with different business ideas before she managed to set up her business, Resolution Drones.  Resolutino Drones is a drone unit that responds immediately to incidents in North West Wales, whether it's crimes, searching for missing people, or assessing storm damage and the climate crisis.  After receiving advice from her mentor from the Job Seeking department, she set about seeking help to set up, she said.

"A mentor from the Jobseeker department said: 'There are people out there who can help you, such as Business Wales, Mon CF and the Enterprise Hub'," said Cara.  "And that's how we came into contact. The grant has helped me purchase the thermal imaging drone which has boosted the business. I'd be years behind if I didn't have this.  It's been going really well. Aled Owen was my mentor and he was very supportive when I got all the applications ready and put everything in order – he was fantastic. You have someone local who can help you and is nearby."

By now, Cara has invested in a handful of different drones that will benefit the community and her business.

"When something happens in the northwest area, I'll come out with the drone for whatever is needed," she said.  "One drone has a loudspeaker, for a search and rescue situation or any kind of public disturbance. I have smaller drones to assess damage to buildings after storms etc. I have a medium-sized drone to gather evidence for high-quality images and things to help agencies and regulators in their work, so that they can be used in the northwest to try to tackle crime and the causes of climate change."
